Kojic Acid Soap is one of the best and most popular skin lightening methods. The use of Kojic Acid Soap as a lightening agent has been widely used for centuries. It is favored for the ease of application and subtle but effective results.
How Does It Work?
Kojic Acid Soap is a strong but gentle peeling agent that will help deep exfoliation to rid the upper layer of skin of dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. It also slows down the production of Melanin. All though it is a peeling agent, actual “peeling” is minimal as long as you thoroughly moisturize. Skin that is not exfoliated often will always long darker due to dead skin cell, dirt, and oil build up. Kojic Acid performs a deep exfoliation exposing clean, lighter skin.
Darker complexions are mainly determined by genetics, but normal affects of sun damage, clogged pores, and relaxed elasticity will also accelerate darkening of skin pigment. Kojic is a natural agent produced by Fungi and is most commonly used in cosmetics and even food to help preserve color.
The use of Kojic products as a skin lightening agent was actually popularized by Japan. Many may think that skin lightening is only desired by people with African or Indian ancestries but that is absolutely not the case. A bright, clean complexion is a universal standard of beauty as it relates to health and youth.
Researchers found that putting the Kojic agent in a soap form can be very beneficial when it comes to lightening the skin tone. Since impurities are stripped away while exfoliation occurs, Kojic Acid Soap also helps with skin tightening and firming as well.
All though Kojic is natural and comes from the Earth, that’s not to say there are 0 bad side-effects. Excessive use has been known to cause increased skin sensitivity, discoloration, and dramatically change the natural flora of skin pigment. It is recommended to only use Kojic Soap Acid 2-3 times a week. During your shower, apply the soap on your face, or all over your body. You can simply lather it on, or use a loofa or rag to gently scrub your skin. Let the soap soak in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. Some have noticed a slight tingling sensation, the soap should not be painful or burn.
If you know you have sensitive skin that is prone to break out and get irritated, experiment with a small area on your body. You can apply the soap, let it soak, and then rinse it off. Wait a few days and if no irritation occurs you can assume it will be safe to use. Be extra careful around eyes and genitals. Some may prefer to use Kojic Acid Soap to lighten problem areas like under arms, scars, or dark spots, while others will use it all over their body. If all over application is desired, be very meticulous about even coverage and not missing spots.

Kojic Acid Soap is way less reactive than skin bleach. Dramatic results will not be seen with 1-2 times usage so don’t worry about walking out of the shower and being obviously lighter. A lighter pigment may be barely visible after using the soap a few times, but best results will show after weeks or months of use. Since the Kojic Soap is an exfoliating agent and will strip away the top dead skin cells, it is very important to moisturize thoroughly after use and even days you don’t apply. Moisturizing is extremely important in keeping your skin in it’s best condition so you should be moisturizing daily anyway. From my personal experience, once you discontinue using the soap regularly, your skin will slowly start to darken again as the dead skin cells and Melanin will start building up again.
Kojic Acid Soap is popular and used among women of all ethnicities. It is safe for darker complexions and lighter complexion. There is no dye or bleach, just you and your natural, clean skin. You may think you exfoliate often as is and may not see results from extra exfoliation but you will see results.
